Design a Carry Bag Logo Competition - 2014

Our 2014 competition, held in term 2, was open to students at all levels, in three age groups. The focus was on designing a logo suitable for a carry bag and which promoted language learning, with particular emphasis on the languages of the NZ Curriculum

Design a Placemat Competition - 2013

NZALT's 2013 competition was open to students in Years 7 – 10. Its theme was ‘Design a Placemat’ for language learning. In the Year 7 – 8 category, 1st place went to Jenny Chen (French/Japanese), Sancta Maria College, and 2nd to Jonathon Eddy and Cam Robinson (Japanese), Berkley Normal Middle School. In the Year 9 – 10 category, 1st place went to Gemma Deftereos (French), Sancta Maria College, and 2nd to Livvi Kemp (Spanish), Cashmere High School.

Here are the winning placemats.




Jenny and Gemma (Sancta Maria) also respectively won the Eunice Beveridge Memorial Prizes, prestigious trophies awarded to the top Japanese and top French entrant in the annual NZALT competition. Dee Edwards (honorary secretary) was able to present the trophies to Jenny and Gemma (see photos below).
