Moving Words Competition

Thanks to the support of the New Zealand Society of Translators and Interpreters and the New Zealand Centre for Literary Translation and Wai-te-ata Press, the second edition of Mowo - Moving Words - Literary Translation Prize in New Zealand's Secondary Schools, has just been launched.

Submissions to Moving Words 2015 are invited with the theme of “Peace”.  Reflecting New Zealand’s multi-ethnic and multilingual society, this competition aims to celebrate literature, languages and cultures in secondary schools and to inspire and reward excellence in translation by secondary-level students.

The goal is to produce a translation into English, te reo M?ori, or New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) of a piece of fictional or non-fictional prose or poetry (hereafter referred to as the original piece) that was originally composed and published in a different language. The original piece must relate in some way to the theme of “Peace”.  The entrant must not have published their translation previously.
