NZALT makes available two awards for members : Excellence in Teaching Languages Award , The Peter and Eunice Beveridge Award for Outstanding Leadership in Languages and Life Membership Award.

Our Conferences and LangSems

NZALT holds an annual Conference every second year and LangSems(Language Seminars) in each region every other year.

Conference years are even numbered years and LangSems are odd numbered years.

Language Perfect World Championships

NZALT Certificate of Excellence

Rationale

To recognise exceptional achievement in a field of second language learning, NZALT will provide certificates, suitably endorsed, for NZALT members to award to their students.

Guidelines

1. Eligibility : a student is eligible to receive a Certificate of Excellence if s/he has gained, in a language in any one year, at least:
at NCEA Levels 1 and 2
14 or more credits at Excellence level, and at least 3 credits at Excellence from externally and 3 credits at Excellence from internally assessed standards.
(The same requirements as NZQA's Course Endorsement at Excellence level)
or    
at NCEA Level 3
three Excellences
or    
Cambridge International Examinations
A or A*
or    
International Baccalaureate (IB)
Standard Level grade 7 or Language B Higher Level grade 6 or 7.

2. Applications must state:
     a.  candidate's name (correctly spelt)
     b.  language learned and which examination / level;
     c.  school attended;
     d.  name(s) of teacher(s) making application;
     e.  name of school principal;
     f.  NZALT region of the school.

3. Certificates are for students in Years 11 to 13.

 
4. These certificates are intended to recognise the achievement of second-language learners only.

5. The student's teacher must be a current member of NZALT.

6. Applications for the certificate are to be downloaded by clicking here     for a spreadsheet. (or you can also use the spreadsheet your Regional Officer sent you.)

7. Please rename the file with your school name and e-mail it to Philippa Doig at philippa.doig@xtra.co.nz by the deadline of Tuesday 12 February 2013.
   We then send the details to the printers for the certificates to be printed and delivered before the start of Term 2.(at the latest)
